Granite memorials for Calmar families
We are about 40 minutes south-west, which puts every cemetery serving Calmar inside the area we deliver and install to. Families here are usually buying for Calmar Cemetery and the Leduc County grounds at Thorsby and Warburg, and each of those grounds has its own rules about memorial size, thickness and whether an upright is allowed at all. Call the shop
Calmar's cemetery is set on open prairie with no windbreak, which is hard on tall thin monuments. We will usually steer you toward a wider base than the minimum here, and we will explain why.
Everything we make is cut and lettered on 181 Street in west Edmonton — solid granite, sandblasted by hand, never ordered in finished and resold. You are welcome to come and see the stone at full size before it goes out to Calmar, and a good number of Calmar families do exactly that. Ask for a quote
If you do not yet know what your section allows, that is the normal starting point and not a problem. Tell us the cemetery and the plot number and we will find out, in writing, before you make a single decision about granite or wording. There is no charge for that and no obligation attached to it. Why us
Why Calmar families work with us
We know the Calmar cemeteries
We have set memorials at Calmar Cemetery and the Leduc County grounds at Thorsby and Warburg and we know what each one accepts. Before we quote you anything we confirm your section's size, thickness and finish rules in writing with the cemetery.
Clear, itemised pricing
The memorial price covers the granite, the engraving and two designs, with any amount of front lettering in any language. Delivery and installation to Calmar are quoted separately and stated up front, alongside the cemetery's own permit fee — nothing appears at the end that was not on the quote.
A proof before anything is cut
You see a scaled drawing of the finished memorial and check every name, date and word on it. Proofs are free, we redraw as many times as needed, and nothing goes to the saw until you approve it.
The cemetery paperwork is ours
Permit applications, size approvals and foundation scheduling are handled by us. You should not have to learn how a cemetery permit works while you are grieving.
Locally
What Calmar families usually choose
Calmar's cemetery sits on open prairie with no windbreak, and that changes what we recommend. A tall narrow die on a minimum-width base is a poor choice in that much wind over forty winters. We will usually steer families here toward a wider base than the cemetery's minimum, and we will explain the reasoning rather than just quoting the bigger stone.
Calmar questions
Asked by families here
Does wind really affect a granite monument?
Not the granite — the setting. A tall narrow upright on a minimum base in an exposed cemetery is more likely to shift over decades of freeze-thaw and prairie wind. A wider base costs a little more and removes the problem. Calmar is exposed enough that we raise it with every family who orders an upright there.
Do you charge extra to deliver to Calmar?
No. Calmar is about forty minutes south-west and well inside the area we deliver and install to, along with Thorsby and Warburg.
