Granite memorials for St. Albert families
We are about 15 minutes north-west of our shop, which puts every cemetery serving St. Albert inside the area we deliver and install to. Families here are usually buying for St. Albert Municipal Cemetery and the historic Roman Catholic cemetery beside the Father Lacombe Chapel, and each of those grounds has its own rules about memorial size, thickness and whether an upright is allowed at all. Call the shop
St. Albert's older Catholic sections hold some of the oldest marked graves in Alberta, and families there often want a new memorial to sit comfortably beside stones from the 1880s. That is a design question as much as a material one, and we are happy to spend the time on it.
Everything we make is cut and lettered on 181 Street in west Edmonton — solid granite, sandblasted by hand, never ordered in finished and resold. You are welcome to come and see the stone at full size before it goes out to St. Albert, and a good number of St. Albert families do exactly that. Ask for a quote
If you do not yet know what your section allows, that is the normal starting point and not a problem. Tell us the cemetery and the plot number and we will find out, in writing, before you make a single decision about granite or wording. There is no charge for that and no obligation attached to it. All five are made in the same Edmonton shop, and we deliver and install throughout St. Albert.
Why us
Why St. Albert families work with us
We know the St. Albert cemeteries
We have set memorials at St. Albert Municipal Cemetery and the historic Roman Catholic cemetery beside the Father Lacombe Chapel and we know what each one accepts. Before we quote you anything we confirm your section's size, thickness and finish rules in writing with the cemetery.
Clear, itemised pricing
The memorial price covers the granite, the engraving and two designs, with any amount of front lettering in any language. Delivery and installation to St. Albert are quoted separately and stated up front, alongside the cemetery's own permit fee — nothing appears at the end that was not on the quote.
A proof before anything is cut
You see a scaled drawing of the finished memorial and check every name, date and word on it. Proofs are free, we redraw as many times as needed, and nothing goes to the saw until you approve it.
The cemetery paperwork is ours
Permit applications, size approvals and foundation scheduling are handled by us. You should not have to learn how a cemetery permit works while you are grieving.
Locally
What St. Albert families usually choose
St. Albert splits fairly evenly between uprights and flat markers, because the Municipal Cemetery permits both depending on the block. Families with a plot in the older Catholic ground near the Chapel almost always go upright, partly to match what is already there and partly because the sections allow it. Newer municipal blocks lean flush. Grey and rose granites are the common choice here, which suits the sandstone and marble the older sections are full of.
St. Albert questions
Asked by families here
Can I put an upright monument in St. Albert Municipal Cemetery?
In most blocks, yes. St. Albert Municipal permits uprights across much of the grounds, which is less restrictive than several Edmonton city sections. The historic Roman Catholic cemetery beside the Father Lacombe Chapel has tighter spacing and its own approval process. Give us the block and plot number and we will confirm in writing before you design anything.
Do you match new memorials to old family stones in St. Albert?
Regularly. A good share of St. Albert plots already hold a marker from the early 1900s, and families want the new stone to sit with it rather than against it. We photograph the existing memorial, match the shape, the lettering style and where possible the granite tone, and show you both together on the proof.
